Giovanni Cocco began this family-oriented project in 2005 in order to highlight the lack of social support for his mother, who is a full-time carer for her disabled daughter. After a short while, though, he realised that his motivation for the project did not concern a social analysis or critique based on his family’s circumstance, but rather a desire to connect with his sister. Through photography their gazes are united, and Giovanni and Monia enter into each other’s worlds, in a space formed of lights, silences, glances, and of distance and proximity to the realty that surrounds them.
